Stories in publishing.

My final year thesis at Columbia Journalism School about the role of ‘Domesticity in the Indian Diaspora’ got me interested in the lives of immigrant women to the United States. That led to my job as a copy editor for a non fiction book project. The book, now published and titled, Invincible Women, captures conversations between author Dr. Bilha Fish and 21 women immigrants to the United States; they talk of struggles and successes, and about being labeled outsiders in one the most tumultuous time for immigrants in America.

Invincible Women by Dr. Bilha Fish

I got on board with Dr. Bilha Fish, an Israeli-American immigrant and radiologist in New York due to our shared commitment towards inclusive politics and telling stories of women and their achievements. Some well-known immigrant women such as Isabel Allende, Chitra Divakaruni, Monica Yunus, Mi Jong Lee are featured in the book along with others who may not be known yet, but whose stories inspire awe and respect.

For the duration of the project, I helped Dr. Fish with research and drafting of the interviews for the book. As assistant editor, I was also responsible for editing first copy along with a team of editors. The book was published by Hybrid Global Publishing in 2020.
